Having the heating cut off is extremely annoying, and we understand that this frustrates you a lot.

πŸ‘‡ Before you try to fix the issue, check the following:

  1. Check the LifeX app, we announce any planned heating cuts to different apartments as soon as we get the message from our landlords.

  2. Check if the whole apartment is without heating or only certain rooms are suffering from no heating by quickly touching the radiators in other rooms.

  3. If the entire building you live in doesn't have heating, then there may be a regional heating supply interruption, in such case please contact SWM.

SWM

SWM is the heating service supplier for our apartments in Munich.

  • Check out their website to see the current status of all maintenance work in the city. Find more info simply by typing in your home address in the search bar.

  • If your apartment is in the affected areas, you will be able to see updates regarding when the maintenance work will be done when you click on the triangle sign.

  • Breakdowns or acute closures of heating pipelines do not always give us any time to notify you. In the case of an unannounced interruption, such as a blown pipe somewhere in SWM's system, LifeX couldn't really do anything to resume the heating other than reaching out to SWM via dialing the service number 0800 796 7960 or sending a WhatsApp message to +49 89 88997123

  • You could find out more information about how to report different urgent issues to SWM by clicking here. If you are using google chrome as the default browser, note that you can switch the language to English by turning on Google Translate to translate the entire page with your chrome browser.

  • Alternatively, you could also wait a bit for the heating to come back, as the technicians are probably working very hard in the meantime to fix it. Chances are, you may live in an area with many neighbors who are affected by this emergency. So, issues might already be reported this issue to SWM before we even hear about it.

However, if the heating cut is not an issue triggered on the supplier's side, we will need more information from you, in order to proceed with it.

Only one of the radiators in the apartment has no heating! 😭

The majority of the time you do not have any heating coming out from one of the radiators is because there is air in the pipes. The air prevents the heat to be distributed evenly in your radiator. You can tell if this is the case by answering the following questions:

  1. Is it only the upper part of the radiator warm but not the bottom part?

  2. Are the pipes connecting to the radiator hot?

If you answer YES to the above questions, then please send us a picture of both sides of the radiator (where the thermostat and the pin are) via the LifeX App and we will send someone to help you out.

If you answer NO, then unfortunately there is either a problem with the supplier or there may some issues with the heating system for the whole building, and we need to reach out to the landlord to schedule a technician visit to look at it. In this case, the process may take longer, so please reach out to us as soon as you can, and we will see if we have a portable heater at hand while we wait for the radiator to get fixed.

If your apartment uses floor heating 🀫

We know that some apartments in Munich use floor heating, which takes a few hours to warm up and mostly stops when it has reached a certain temperature. You could help us gather more information about the heating issue by touching the floor and tell us via the LifeX app :

  1. Is the floor heating warm? Or stone cold?

  2. Where is it not warm in the apartment?

  3. Is the dial for the floor heating on the wall turned up fully?

The more information you provide upfront, the faster we can react to the issue. Thanks for your cooperation!
