This article will help you in case there is a sudden power cut in your apartment.

πŸ‘‡ Before you try to fix the issue, check the following:

  1. Check the LifeX app, we announce any planned power cuts to different apartments as soon as we get the message from our landlords.

  2. Check if the whole apartment is out of electricity or only in certain rooms by turning on and off the switches. Very often, if the power has gone out in the whole house, it can be an issue happened inside the fuse box.

  3. Check if the whole building is out of electricity or only your apartment/house by asking neighbors or going to the hallway outside and turning on the lights there.

UK Power Networks is the electricity supplier for our apartments in London.

  • In the event of a regional power failure in your area in London, check out their interactive map to see the current status of all maintenance work in the city. Find more information simply by typing in your home address or postcode in the search bar.

  • If your apartment is in the affected areas, you will be able to see updates regarding the issue when you click on the icons.

  • Acute power cuts do not always give us any time to notify you. In the case of an unannounced interruption. It may take some time from when you experience an acute power outage until it is registered on UK Power Networks's website.

  • You could report the emergency on the above website or contact UK Power Networks by calling 0800 31 63 105 or 105

  • Alternatively, you could also wait a bit for the electricity to come back, as the technicians are probably working very hard in the meantime to fix it. Chances are, you may live in an area with many neighbors who are affected by this emergency. So, issues might already be reported this issue to UK Power Networks before we even hear about it.

If there is no power in public areas outside of your apartment, then it may mean that the whole building or area is affected by a power cut. A power line might be interrupted due to an accident or maintenance work in the area. If you could find an issue for the area you are living in on UK Power Networks's website, then you might know when the power will be restored.

Very often, a blown fuse in the domestic electricity connection cabinet is the reason why you suffer from a sudden power cut. This type of power outage is likely to be triggered by people using consumer equipment or household appliances and overloading the power grid.
