β Step-by-Step: What to Do First
Before calling LifeX or a professional, try the following steps to contain the situation and limit damage π
1οΈβ£ Try to contact your upstairs neighbors as soon as possible and ask them to shut off their main water valve.
π§ This might immediately stop or slow the leak if the water is coming from their apartment.
2οΈβ£ Identify where the water is coming from:
Ceiling in the kitchen or bathroom?
Radiators or visible plumbing fixtures?
Try to be specific when reporting the issue.
3οΈβ£ Contain the leak:
π§Ό Mop up any standing water with towels or a mop.
πͺ£ Place a bucket or large container directly under the drip to collect water.
β οΈ Be careful not to slip β walk cautiously on wet surfaces!

Document the issue with photos or a video, if safe to do so β this can help technicians respond faster.
