How to Use Keyhole to Pay Your Deposit – Step-by-Step Guide

Keyhole Secure is a modern, digital deposit solution that helps you move into your new LifeX home stress-free.


⚠️ Important – Set Up Your Deposit Immediately After Signing

We strongly recommend setting up your deposit account immediately after signing your contract.

Please note:

  • International transfers and deposit account registration may take 2–5 business days.

  • Delays in setting up or funding the account may delay your move-in.

  • We recommend initiating the transfer as early as possible to avoid last-minute issues.


✅ Step 1: Start Your Application

  • Navigate to the Keyhole Secure section on your profile. It is important that you choose Keyhole Secure and NOT Keyhole Deposit.

  • Confirm your rental address (e.g. Vesterngranvej 126, 2. TV.).

  • You’ll see an Estimated Price screen showing:

    • Deposit amount (e.g. 60,000 NOK)

    • Interest rate (e.g. 2.5%)

    • Security Account as the account type.

  • Click “Continue to Application”.


🔒 Step 2: Complete Prerequisites

Before you can activate the product, complete the following:
​1. Setup 2-Factor Verification

We’ll send a verification code to your phone.

2. Get Pre-Qualified
We create a Keyhole Passport using your:

  • Personal ID (Passport or National Identity Card are the only forms of ID that are accepted)

  • Bank ID

  • Basic financial information

Once both are complete, your profile will be marked as verified.


📥 Step 3: Accept Terms & Conditions

  • Read the full details about how Keyhole Secure holds your deposit in a secure account.

  • Check the box to accept the terms and conditions.

  • Click “Continue” to proceed.


💸 Step 4: Choose Your Payment Method

You’ll be asked: How will you send your security deposit?

Choose from:

🏦 Domestic Transfer

  • For users with a Norwegian bank account.

🌍 International Transfer

  • For transfers from foreign banks.

  • Details like SWIFT/BIC and IBAN will be shown.

💡 Recommendation: Choose Instant Transfer (If Available)

If your bank offers an instant transfer option, we strongly recommend selecting it.

Instant international transfers may already be available depending on your bank. However, availability and appearance may vary. It is the tenant’s responsibility to confirm whether the transfer is sent as an instant transfer.


💳 Step 5: Make the Deposit

  • Deposit the full amount to the provided Keyhole account.

  • You'll receive:

    • Account Number

    • KID (reference number)

    • Beneficiary Name

  • International transfers usually take 2–5 business days, depending on the country and the time of day the transfer is initiated.

💱 Important: Send the Payment in NOK

We strongly recommend sending the payment in NOK, so that currency conversion and calculations are handled upfront and the correct amount is received.

Sending the deposit in another currency may result in exchange rate differences and underpayments, which could delay the confirmation of your deposit.

Once received, the status will show “Awaiting Security Deposit”“Done!”


🏠 Step 6: View Your Deposit

After the deposit is confirmed:

  • You’ll see your rental details, including:

    • Monthly rent and total deposit

  • Your Keyhole Secure service card will display:

    • Deposit amount

    • Interest rate

    • Earned interest

    • Total balance

You can always return to this page to track your balance and interest.

Pro tip:

If contacting by email, please use the same email address that was used in your Keyhole invitation. It is also very helpful to include your full address (and room number, if applicable) in the message.
