🔐 What is eID and why do we use it?

eID (Electronic Identification) is a secure method to verify your identity online. At LifeX, we use Dropbox Sign with eID to make sure contracts are signed safely and legally, while also reducing paperwork for everyone. eID is accepted across multiple countries.

You can check if your country is supported here:

✅ What do you need to prepare?

Before signing, please make sure you have the following:

  1. A valid ID or passport

    • We need this to verify your identity before we send the contract.

  2. Check if your ID is supported by Dropbox Sign

  3. A stable internet connection

    • You’ll be taking a selfie and uploading your ID again during the eID process.

  4. Any documents we’ve asked you to attach

    • Upload these directly in Dropbox Sign when prompted.

✍️ How do I sign my contract?

Once your ID has been verified and your contract is ready, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Dropbox Sign link we send you.

  2. If your country is supported, we’ll enable the “Verify identity” toggle.

  3. Dropbox Sign will then ask you to:

    • Upload your ID again.

    • Take a selfie for verification.

    • Attach any additional required documents.

  4. After your identity is verified, you can proceed to sign the contract electronically.

🧠 Note: If eID is not supported for your country, we’ll disable the identity verification step, but you still need to upload your ID beforehand or show it during a video call.

👩‍❤️‍👨 Signing as a couple or with a second person?

At the moment, Dropbox Sign with eID does not support contracts with two signers (e.g., couples). In those cases:

  • We will turn off the eID and send the contract for manual verification.

  • Make sure both individuals have shared their IDs and any required documents beforehand.

❗ Common issues to avoid

  • If eID is enabled and your country is not supported, you won’t be able to sign the contract. If this happens, don’t worry:

    • Let us know, and we will cancel the contract and re-send it without eID.

  • Don’t try to sign on behalf of someone else — the verification is personal and secure.
