Noise Due to Construction Near Your Home in Aarhus

✅ First Things First: Check These

1️⃣ Check the LifeX App
We’ll post any announcements about planned construction works near your apartment as soon as we’re informed by landlords or local authorities.

2️⃣ Check if it’s official municipal roadwork
Some noise may come from roadworks or other public infrastructure projects. You can check current and upcoming projects here:

➡️ Please note that the map mainly covers projects managed by Aarhus Municipality, so not every construction site will necessarily appear.

3️⃣ Know the standard working hours 🕖
According to Aarhus Municipality's standard conditions for construction and demolition work:

  • Weekdays: Noisy construction activities are generally permitted between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

  • Saturdays: Noisy construction activities are generally permitted between 7:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

  • Sundays and outside these hours: Construction activities must not cause disturbances. In practice, construction machinery, motorised tools and impact tools cannot be used near residential properties during these periods.

  • Piling and vibration work: Generally limited to 8:00 AM–4:00 PM on weekdays.

Exceptions may be granted for specific reasons, and residents will normally be informed if work needs to take place outside the standard hours.

If you're hearing disruptive construction noise outside the permitted hours, try to record or document it and send us the proof via the LifeX app. We’ll escalate the issue to your landlord or building administrator.

🤔 So, What Can You Do?

Unfortunately, construction noise — especially when permitted — is outside LifeX’s direct control, so we aren’t able to offer rent discounts in such cases. However, we can still support you in small ways:

🛏 Room swap: In very loud or prolonged cases, we might be able to offer a temporary room swap (subject to availability).


🧘‍♂️ Earplugs: Let us know if you need a set — we’re happy to provide them to help reduce the noise while you work or rest.
