One of the great perks of being a LifeX member is the opportunity to swap rooms with members in other cities — offering a flexible, affordable way to explore new places, meet fellow members, and still feel at home. 🌍✨

🛫 What is a Room Swap?

A room swap allows you to temporarily exchange rooms with another LifeX member living in a different city. For example, want to spend a few days in Paris while another member visits Berlin? A swap makes that possible — without needing to book a hotel or Airbnb.

💬 How Does It Work?

  1. Open the LifeX App and head to the “Room Swap” group chat.

  2. Post your interest (dates, city, and room details) or respond to other members’ posts.

  3. If you find a match, coordinate the details directly with the other member.

  4. Ensure both your housemates approve of the arrangement before proceeding.

📌 Note: LifeX does not directly manage or facilitate the swap — it is entirely member-led.

🏠 Important Guidelines

  • ✅ You may only swap with an occupied room.
Vacant or unsold rooms cannot be used for swaps, as these are not prepared (cleaned/maintained) for temporary stays.

  • 🧹 Respect the space — both yours and the one you borrow. You are expected to return the room in a clean and tidy condition.

⚠️ Liability & Responsibilities

  • You are fully responsible for the room you are staying in during the swap.

  • If any damage occurs or if the room is left in poor condition, you will be held financially liable for repairs or cleaning.

  • Don’t forget to leave the key in the room when you check out — failing to do so may result in a key replacement fee.

💡 Final Tips

  • Communicate clearly and early with the other member.

  • Consider drafting a short written agreement for clarity.

  • Be respectful of your host’s housemates and common spaces.
