LifeX apartments typically do not have locks on the individual private rooms.

This is primarily due to safety concerns as the police or firefighters may need to enter the room in case of an emergency. But in some countries it is also legislation that we cannot provide locks on doors due to our classification.

In addition, as LifeX also provides services, such as cleaning and furniture repairs/maintenance, our LifeX operations team or technicians/plumbers will need to enter if there is an issue in a private room or it is time for cleaning! In this case, we will always notify the members in advance and knock on the doors before entering.

In the circumstances where you feel that you'd like to have important or high value items more secure, we would recommend that you purchase your own lockable safety box or portable safe. These can be easily purchased online or in specific stores.
