One of the perks about living in LifeX apartments is that you are not bound to one apartment or city. If you have seen a room or apartment that sparks your interest, then you can easily request a 'member move' with us.

How do I know which rooms are becoming available?

  • Browse vacant rooms in the group titled 'Rooms in City Name' under the community tab in the app.

  • You can also see availabilities on our website.

How does it work?

  1. Reach out to us through the chat in the app (it's not necessary to sign up on the website again and book a call; contacting us through the app is already enough, and it gives you priority as a LifeX member). Let us know which room, from when, and what the reason for your request is. We will share some details about the member move, and reserve it internally for one day in case you have questions. Then we can proceed to send a contract.

⚠️Be aware, as soon as we send a new contract, this immediately terminates your current stay and puts your room for sale online.

  2. Sign a new contract for the room. Please note the contract needs to be sign with 24 hours of the receipt to ensure the room is rent for you.

  3. Receive the key to your new apartment (our operations team will reach out to you to coordinate this the week before your moving day).

  4. Move out of your old room by 8.30 AM on the day of your new contract start date so the cleaners can prepare the room for new members. Leave the key in your room, and follow instructions received by email to collect the keys for your new home.

  5. You can move into your new room after 3 PM on the contract start date. You are more than welcome to leave your personal belongings in the common area of the new apartment from 8.30 AM - 3 PM, while your room will be cleaned.

  6. Enjoy your new home, get to know your new housemates, and have a welcome dinner!

a. Move to another room in your current apartment

πŸ›οΈ You will get a new contract from either the 1st or 15th of the month that you want to move over - your rent will be automatically adjusted accordingly on your next invoice, as will the difference in prepaid rent. Your deposit will simply be held. The minimum stay is not renewed because you're staying in the same apartment.

b. Move to another apartment

🏠 You will get a new contract from either the 1st or 15th of the month that you want to move over - your rent will be automatically adjusted accordingly on your next invoice, as will the difference in prepaid rent. Your deposit will simply be held. The minimum stay is renewed.

c. Move in with your partner

πŸ‘©β€β€οΈβ€πŸ‘¨ If you want to have your partner move with you, the room has to be a couple's room. If you already are in a couple's room, we can add your partner to your contract. Minimum stay is not renewed if you stay in the same apartment, but it will be if you move into a couples room in another apartment.

What about the rent, prepaid rent, and my deposit?

When you have signed a new contract, the difference in rent (including if you are moving mid-month) will be automatically calculated and reflected on your first invoice for your new room, as will the difference in prepaid rent (if this applies).

Your current deposit will automatically be allocated in our system to your new room, so we do not refund your deposit, and you do NOT need to pay the deposit once more.
Please note, your contract will still outline the usual deposit amount, as your new contract must also indicate that there is a deposit tied to this contract. Again, this does not mean you will need to pay it again.

Conditions to member move:

Minimum stay:

You have to have been in your current room for at least 2 months and will stay in your new room for at least 2 months as well. Kindly note that it is a full calendar month, from the first to the last day of the month. If you move in on any other date of the month, you should count two extra months to complete the minimum stay.

We want to offer you flexibility, but nobody likes to live in a home that feels like a hotel where people come and go. By setting a minimum of 2 months, we try to prevent your current and your new apartment from having too much turnover.

Note: in Berlin and Munich we are obligated to have the minimum stay per apartment completed before moving. This also means that your minimum stay would reset to 3 or 6 months if you move to another apartment. The minimum stay does not reset when you move to another room inside the same apartment however. Please reach out in the app if you are unsure o your minimum stay.

When do I need to let you know that I would like to move?

As soon as possible! LifeX members are always prioritized but please be aware that the possibility to move is always based on availability and an empty room might have already been reserved for a future member.

I see a room that is available now, when can I move into that room?

You can move to a new room on the 1st or 15th of the month. If you have a specific reason why this doesn't work for you and you would like to move on a different date, then let us know and we can see what we can do for you.

Fees for booking changes

If you wish to switch to a different room after signing the contract for your new room, or to cancel your member move before the contract start date, the first charge will be 150 DKK/20 EUR/ GBP 20 / 200 NOK. Any other change will incur a fee of 350 DKK/50 EUR/ GBP 50 / 500 NOK.

❗ Due to the local regulations, this policy doesn't apply in Munich. It is not possible to move out or move into another room before the end of the minimum stay ❗
