How can I move to a different room or apartment within LifeX?

One of the perks of living in a LifeX apartment is the freedom to move between rooms, apartments, or even cities. If you see a room or apartment that sparks your interest, you can easily request a member move.


🔹 Am I Eligible to Member Move?

For Copenhagen, Oslo & Paris:

  • Eligibility: You must have completed at least 2 months of your current stay under your existing contract.

For Berlin, Munich & Hamburg:

  • Eligibility: You must fullfill the minimum stay requirement for your current apartment (either 3 or 6 months, depending on the specific arrangement).

  • Note: Upon moving to a new apartment, the minimum stay period (3 or 6 months) will reset and must be completed again.

  • Please review your contract or contact us in the app if you’re unsure about your minimum stay.


🔎 How Do I Know Which Rooms Are Available?

  • In the App: Browse vacant rooms in the group titled "Rooms in [City Name]" under the community tab.

  • Online: Check our website for up-to-date availabilities.


⏳ When Can I Move?

  • Move Dates: You can move on the 1st or 15th of the following month.

  • Notice Period: A 7-day notice is required so we can arrange your member move and coordinate housekeeping.


🔄 How Does a Member Move Work?

  1. Reach Out:

    • Contact us via the chat in the app.

    • Tell us which room you’re interested in, your desired move-in date, and the reason for your request.

  2. Reservation & Contract:

    • We will provide details about the move and temporarily reserve the room for one day while you ask questions.

    • Once you decide to proceed, we send you a new contract.

    • Important: As soon as the new contract is sent, your current stay is terminated and your current room goes online for sale.

    • You must sign the new contract within 24 hours to secure the room.

  3. Key Collection & Move-Out:

    • New Apartment: Receive the key to your new apartment after signing the contract.

    • Old Apartment:

      • Move out by 8:30 AM on the day your new contract starts, so our cleaners have time to prepare the room for new members.

      • Leave your key in your old room and follow the emailed instructions to collect keys for your new home.

  4. Move-In Day:

    • You can move into your new room after 3 PM on the contract start date.

    • From 8:30 AM to 3 PM, feel free to store your personal belongings in the common area while your new room is cleaned.

  5. Enjoy Your New Home:

    • Settle in, get to know your new housemates, and enjoy a welcome dinner!


🔀 Special Member Move Options

a. Moving to Another Room in Your Current Apartment:

  • You will receive a new contract effective from the 1st or 15th of your desired move date.

  • Your rent and prepaid rent differences will be automatically adjusted on your next invoice.

  • Deposit: Your existing deposit will be held, and the minimum stay is not renewed since you remain in the same apartment.

b. Moving to Another Apartment:

  • You will receive a new contract effective from the 1st or 15th of your desired move date.

  • Your rent and prepaid rent differences will be automatically adjusted.

  • Deposit: Your existing deposit will be held.

  • Note: The minimum stay period will be renewed in the new apartment.

c. Moving in With Your Partner:

  • For partner moves, the room must be a couple’s room.

  • If you’re already in a couple’s room, we can add your partner to your contract.

  • Minimum Stay:

    • Same Apartment: Minimum stay is not renewed.

    • Different Apartment: Minimum stay is renewed.


💰 Rent, Prepaid Rent, and Deposit

  • When you sign a new contract, any difference in rent (even for mid-month moves) and the prepaid rent will be automatically calculated and reflected on your first invoice for the new room.

  • Your current deposit is automatically allocated to your new room, so you will not be asked to pay the deposit again.

    • Note: Your new contract will still mention a deposit requirement, but this is a formality.


💸 Fees for Booking Changes

  • Before Contract Start:

    • If you switch to a different room after signing the new contract or cancel your member move before the new contract starts, the first change fee is 150 DKK / 20 EUR / 200 NOK.

  • Subsequent Changes:

  • Any additional changes will incur a fee of 350 DKK / 50 EUR / 500 NOK.
