What to do if you don't have heating in your home?

Having the heating cut off is extremely annoying, and we understand that this frustrates you a lot.

πŸ‘‡ Before you try to fix the issue, check the following:

  1. Check the LifeX app, we announce any planned heating cuts to different apartments as soon as we get the message from our landlords.

  2. Check if the whole apartment is without heating or only certain rooms by quickly touching the radiators in other rooms.

HOFOR

HOFOR is the national danish heating service supplier, they basically run the whole operation in Copenhagen.

  • Check out their website https://www.hofor.dk/driftsinfo/ to see the current status of maintenance work in the city simply by typing in your address in the search bar.

  • If your apartment is in any of the areas that are affected, you will be able to see updates regarding when the heating will be back when you click on the dot.

  • Breakdowns or acute closures of heating pipelines do not always appear on the map. If you can not find the information you are looking for, you are welcome to call HOFOR's emergency line: +45 - 38 88 24 24.

  • If it is not announced maintenance and all radiators are cold, it is likely to be a blown pipe that needs to be fixed right away - this issue doesn't really give the company any time to announce beforehand. But this can usually be fixed within the day by plumbers coming to the building.

So, what should I do? πŸ€”

  • To see if the heating is coming back within a few hours, check the map for any HOFOR's maintenance work in the city. And if we didn't announce it early enough, kindly report it to us immediately through the LifeX app.

It's not about HOFOR, and there is still no heating! 😭

The majority of the time you do not have any heating is because of air in the pipes. It prevents the heat to be distributed evenly in your radiator. You can tell if this is the case by answering the following questions:

  1. Is it only the upper part of the radiator hot but not the bottom part?

  2. Are the pipes connecting to the radiator hot?

If you answer YES to these questions, then please send us a picture of both sides of the radiator (where the thermostat and pin are) on the LifeX App and we will help you out as soon as possible.

If you answer NO, then unfortunately there is a problem with the heating system in the whole building, and we need to schedule a plumber/technician visit to look at it. This may take longer, so please feel free to reach out, and we will see if we have a portable heater for you while we wait for it to get fixed.
