Having the heating cut off is extremely annoying, and we understand that this frustrates you a lot.

👇 Before you try to fix the issue, check the following:

  1. Check the LifeX app, we announce any planned heating cuts to different apartments as soon as we get the message from our landlords.

  2. Check if the whole apartment is without heating or only certain rooms by quickly touching the radiators in other rooms.

Electric heating- Electricité de France (EDF):

EDF is our electricity and heating supplier in our apartments in Paris. Breakdowns or acute closures of heating pipelines do not always give us any time to notify you. Hence, if the heating in the whole building is not working, it is likely to be a blown pipe somewhere in the system that needs to be fixed right away.

In this case, please contact EDF by calling (+33) 0333 200 5100 or visiting this website for more information. Alternatively, you could also wait a bit for the heating to come back, as the plumbers are probably working very hard in the meantime to fix it. Chances are, you may live in an area with many neighbors who are affected by this emergency. So, there might already be people reporting this issue to EDF before we even hear about it.

However, if the heating problem is not an issue triggered on the supplier's side. We will need more information from you, in order to proceed with it.

Gas heating - Engie:

Only for Wagram and Citeaux

Your gas provider is Engie. It can happen that there is a general gas heating failure in your area. In this case, please contact Engie by calling (+33) 0800 130 3600 or visiting this website for more information. Only one of the radiators in the apartment has no heating! 😭 (Both EDF and Engie)

The majority of the time you do not have any heating coming out from one of the radiators is because there is air in the pipes. The air prevents the heat to be distributed evenly in your radiator. You can tell if this is the case by answering the following questions:

  1. Is it only the upper part of the radiator warm but not the bottom part?

  2. Are the pipes connecting to the radiator hot?

If you answer YES to the above questions, then please send us a picture of both sides of the radiator (where the thermostat and the pin are) via the LifeX App and we will send someone to help you out.

If you answer NO, then unfortunately there is a problem with the heating system in the whole building, and we need to schedule a plumber/technician visit to look at it. This may take longer, so please feel free to reach out, and we will see if we have a portable heater for you while we wait for it to get fixed.
