This article will help you in case there is a sudden power cut in your apartment.
👇 Before you try to fix the issue, check the following:
✅ Check the LifeX app – We announce any planned power cuts to our apartments as soon as we receive the information from our landlords.
✅ Check if the whole apartment is out of electricity, or only certain rooms, by turning switches on and off.
✅ Check if the entire building is affected – Ask your neighbors or go to the hallway and try turning on the lights outside your apartment.
🔎 Check for regional outages – Electricité De France (EDF)
If it seems like a wider outage in your area, you can visit the official EDF website to see any reported disruptions:

If both you and your neighbors are without power and there’s no information online, please inform LifeX via the app or contact EDF directly:

Keep in mind that sometimes, it can take a while for a new power cut to appear on EDF's website.
🏢 The whole building is out of power?
If there's no power in the hallways or common areas, it's likely a general building or area-wide outage. This can happen due to:
Ongoing maintenance or work in the area
A technical failure
Unexpected incidents (e.g., weather, accidents)
In this case, we recommend waiting a little while, checking the EDF outage page again later, and reaching out to LifeX if the issue persists.
🏠 Only your apartment has no electricity?
If only your unit is affected, the most common reason is a blown fuse or a tripped RCD switch in your domestic electricity cabinet. This is usually triggered by:
Overloaded appliances (e.g. using multiple high-power devices simultaneously)
A faulty appliance
A short circuit
🧰 Want to fix it yourself?
If you feel safe doing so, you can try the following:
Locate your electricity cabinet (usually in the entrance or kitchen area).
Check if any switches have flipped off.
Try switching the RCD (main breaker) back on.
If a fuse is blown, replace it with a fuse of the same rating.
