♻️ Recycling & Trash Bins

For LifeX Homes in Denmark

All LifeX homes are equipped with recycling containers in the kitchen to help you sort your waste correctly and sustainably 🌍🗑️

In some homes with Regular Services, you might only see the most common bins — typically bio waste and general waste — to save space. However, recycling is still required, and it’s everyone’s responsibility to follow local waste separation guidelines. More information👉 here.

🔎 How to Recycle

Please refer to the recycling symbols and signs specific to your city. These show you how to separate items like:

  • ♻️ Plastic & packaging

  • 🗞️ Paper & cardboard

  • 🍎 Bio waste

  • 🗑️ Residual/general waste

  • 🍾 Glass & metal containers

🧴 How to Return Pant Bottles & Cans

The Danish Deposit System

In Denmark, many bottles and cans are part of the Pant system, which is a deposit-return scheme designed to reduce waste and encourage recycling.

💰 What is Pant?

When you buy a product in a bottle or can, you pay a deposit (Pant). When you return the empty item, you get your deposit back — either as a voucher or cash. The returned items are recycled or reused, helping the environment 🌿

🔍 How to Identify Pant Items

Look near the barcode for these labels:

  • Pant A

  • Pant B

  • Pant C

These indicate that the item is part of the return system.

🏪 Where to Return Pant

  • Supermarkets:
Most stores have Pant return machines (usually at the entrance or back of the store). Insert your items, and the machine prints a coupon 💳 that you can redeem at the register.

  • Reminder:
If a bottle/can does not have a Pant symbol, please place it in the correct bin — for glass, metal, or containers, depending on the material.

🚮 Who Takes Care of the Trash?

  • LifeX members are responsible for sorting all waste correctly into the designated bins.

  • ❌ The housekeeper will not re-sort trash that is incorrectly separated. If waste is not sorted properly, the bins may not be taken out.

🗓️ Housekeepers take the trash out only on their scheduled cleaning days, and bins must be completely full to be emptied.

📦 If the bins become full before cleaning day, please bring them down to the courtyard trash containers yourself.

⚠️ Please Note

  • Housekeepers do not handle Pant returns.

  • They also do not manage:

    • Overflowing trash bins

    • Extra or too-heavy trash bags

    • Cleaning after private parties or events
