๐Ÿงน Keeping your home clean between cleaning days

Welcome to the LifeX community! ๐Ÿ‘‹ We want to make sure everyone enjoys a clean, organised, and comfortable home throughout their stay. ๐Ÿกโœจ

Written by Xena

LifeX provides cleaning services twice a month to help maintain the cleanliness of shared spaces. However, members are responsible for keeping the apartment clean and tidy between cleaning days.
โ€‹

Our housekeepers help maintain shared spaces, but they do not deep clean the home or clean private bedrooms and private bathrooms.

To help you keep your home in great condition, we've put together a guide covering members' responsibilities, housekeepers' tasks, and a suggested cleaning schedule.

๐Ÿ“… Where can I find my cleaning schedule?

You can find your cleaning schedule in the app under My Apartment โ†’ Apartment Specifications โ†’ Services.

๐Ÿงฝ Members' Responsibilities

Members are responsible for cleaning and maintaining the apartment between housekeeper visits. This includes cleaning up after yourself, keeping shared spaces tidy, and completing the tasks listed below.

If you live alone, you are fully responsible for cleaning your apartment between cleaning days.

๐Ÿงด Cleaning Supplies

We recommend purchasing cleaning supplies for everyday use so you and your flatmates can keep the apartment clean between visits.

Daily

  • Wipe down countertops, the stove, and the wall behind the stove after cooking.

  • Clean up spills immediately to prevent stains or damage.

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Cleaning Framework & Suggested Schedules

We understand that everyone has different routines. To make things easier, we recommend creating a shared cleaning schedule with your flatmates to distribute responsibilities fairly between housekeeper visits.

The following schedules are suggestions and can be adapted to your apartment's size and preferences. We recommend writing your schedule on the apartment's whiteboard so everyone knows when it's their turn. โœ๏ธ

๐Ÿ  3-Bedroom Apartment

  • Week 1: Housekeeper

  • Week 2: Room 1

  • Week 3: Housekeeper

  • Week 4: Room 2

  • Week 5: Housekeeper

  • Week 6: Room 3

๐Ÿ  4+ Bedroom Apartment

Split the cleaning responsibilities between two rooms at a time:

  • Week 1: Housekeeper

  • Week 2: Rooms 1 & 2

  • Week 3: Housekeeper

  • Week 4: Rooms 3 & 4

  • Week 5: Housekeeper

  • Week 6: Rooms 5 & 6, if applicable

๐Ÿ’ก Remember: Everyone should clean up after themselves and contribute to the daily upkeep of shared spaces, regardless of whose turn it is.
